Interested in becoming a Community Mediation Volunteer Facilitator?

We receive inquiries each week from those interested in taking mediation training and becoming  mediators.  Our next training class will be held in July 2011.  Volunteer mediators commit to the following:

¨ 45 hours of training (all 45 hours must be attended)

¨ An apprenticeship involving  two observations and two mediations with an experienced co-mediator

¨ A strategy session and five-hour follow up training

¨ Joining the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence (MPME)

¨ 75 hours of service, including varied types of service to the Center

You are welcome to contact us and ask to be placed on our list of prospective mediators.  We will share information with you about our Center, and invite you to one of two information sessions planned for the evening of March 1st and the morning of April 2nd.  Once you have attended an information session (this is required) and sent us a completed application, we will schedule a brief interview.

If you are accepted into the training program and offered a slot in the next training, we will provide you with a volunteer contract, and ask you to sign it and return it to us to signify your commitment to the program.

The Community Mediation Program at CRC uses the Community Mediation Maryland model of mediation developed by Community Mediation Maryland, Community Mediation of Baltimore City, and Duke Fisher.  All CRC mediators take training in this model of mediation and make a commitment to work together with other mediators at the Center to provide high quality services consistent with the CMM model of mediation practice.
